Ren, short for Renata, was born in the former Soviet Republic of Moldova, and immigrated to Philly right in time to start grade school. She moved to NYC at 18 to attend film school. She fell in love with stories, watching the light move through the streets and alleys, art, and most importantly, really good food. She traveled the world, had adventures, and realized photography was her passion. She spent over a decade in New York, which in her opinion, shaped her hustle and hard work ethic. Ren is happiest when she is collaborating with a creative team and bringing her clients vision to life. Her lighting is inspired by watching the light change around her and is rooted in reality. It’s what gives her the ability to hop between still life in studio, and lifestyle on location with a singular look and feel. Ren still can’t believe that she gets to make images for a living and she likes to think that excitement translates to her energy on set. She now lives in LA with her husband, a DP + Editor. They partner to create story driven motion content to go alongside Ren’s stills. Ren loves working on integrated shoots and feels like her education and passion have come full circle when she gets to wear a director’s hat with her camera in hand.
When she’s not shooting, she’s hosting a Podcast, climbing, camping, or building something for her home. Her heros are David Lynch, Josef Koudelka, and these majestic creatures. She very much enjoys eating cheeseburgers and hanging out with her dog, Kuma. She’s usually the first to fall asleep at a New Years party.
